Available only in their top-spec Style trim, the manual version is priced at Rs. 16.19 lakh and the automatic version is priced at Rs. 17.79 lakh. Skoda Slavia Engine specs

As we know there is no difference externally between the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre versions. The main difference is mechanically under the hood. The 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder engine is the same motor seen in the Rapid, VW Polo and Vento. But the 1.5-litre TSI motor is a new addition that was first seen in the Kushaq SUV

The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine pushes 150 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque. It gets the same 6-speed manual transmission as the other engine. Unlike the 1.0-litre TSI, this gets the famous 7-speed DSG gearbox from the VW Group.

The 1.5-litre TSI is a quicker engine but the mileage is on the lower side. To overcome this, Skoda has equipped it with Active Cylinder Technology (ACT). This tech cleverly shuts two-cylinder out of four when the power necessity is low, boosting the mileage of the car.

The ARAI claimed mileage for the 1.0-litre engine are 19.47 kmpl and 18.07 kmpl for the manual and automatic transmissions respectively. The 1.5-litre gives 18.72 kmpl and 18.41 kmpl for the manual and automatic transmissions respectively.

Features

The Slavia comes with plenty of features. A 10-inch touchscreen system, 8-inch virtual cockpit, sunroof, wireless SmartLink connectivity, wireless smartphone charging, 8 high-performance speakers and subwoofer, and more.

Skoda Slavia launchedComing to the safety side, Skoda equips the Slavia with 6-airbags, ABS, ESC, Multi collision brake, hill hold control, rain and light sensors, a rearview camera with static guidelines and more.

Overall, Skoda seems to have developed a tough challenger in the midsize sedan segment. A spectacular exterior design, improved cabin and storage space, a ton of features and affordable pricing make the Slavia a perfect sedan. Like many car pandits predicted the Slavia could be the Honda City killer. What do you think? Would you rather buy a Honda City or the fresh new Skoda Slavia?
