The new Skoda Slavia car will be unveiled later this year. When it debuts early next year, this new Skoda sedan will compete with the new Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The yet-to-be-revealed Skoda Slavia has already been spied testing in India, based on the localized MQB-A0-IN platform. Here’s what the forthcoming Skoda sedan will look like.
New and Improved Look

Improved front grille and headlight design on the Skoda Slavia
Skoda aims to re-enter the Indian market for the Rapid replacement with the Slavia. The Rapid lacked on few features compared to the competition. Skoda aims to close this gap with improved cabin space and features in their upcoming midsize sedan. The manufacturer just confirmed the name ‘Slavia’ for the future sedan in India.
More Spacious Than The Skoda Rapid
The Skoda Slavia will most likely be 4,480mm long, making it significantly longer than the existing Rapid (4,413mm). When it debuts, the next-generation Rapid is projected to sport the segment’s longest wheelbase (2,651mm). The longer wheelbase should translate to more legroom for occupants, and the new Rapid’s cabin will be 50mm larger, making it feel even more spacious. The new Rapid will also have a big 520-litre boot, making it the most spacious in its class.
The 2022 Skoda Slavia will be styled with the new Skoda crest, sharp-cut LED lighting, and a floating roofline. While the new 2022 Skoda Rapid will share many body panels with its sister car, the VW Virtus, and have a similar basic shape, it will also have a number of unique features that will help it stand out.
Feature-packed
The Skoda Slavia 2022 will be laden with features. Wireless charging, ‘My Skoda’ connected car technology, the new ‘Play’ touchscreen infotainment system, feather-touch AC controls, leatherette upholstery, ventilated seats, a digital instrument cluster, a high-spec audio system with six speakers and a subwoofer, auto headlamps, and auto wipers are just a few of the features you can expect. Even though remote engine start, remote air conditioning, and a panoramic sunroof aren’t included, the 2022 Rapid is expected to be the best-equipped car in its class when it debuts.
Powertrain
A pair of TSI powertrains will operate the Skoda Slavia. The first is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder TSI petrol engine with 115hp. A 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic will drive the front wheels of the 1.0 TSI. The 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TSI engine with 150hp and a strong 250Nm of performance will be the bigger engine choice, giving Skoda’s sedan greater performance. The 1.5 TSI will be equipped with a fast double-clutch AT.
Launch
The Skoda Slavia is likely to debut by the end of 2021 but is set to hit dealerships in early 2022. The Slavia has previously been teased and spied on several times. Skoda’s new sedan will reinvent itself with its roomy cabin, more premium amenities, and strong engines.
While the current Rapid costs between Rs 7.79 and Rs 13.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Slavia is expected to cost between Rs 11 and Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom), with the top-of-the-line car probably costing a little more. The All-new Slavia will compete with the future Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and Toyota Yaris in terms of competitors.
