Skoda launched the all-new Skoda Slavia recently. The new premium sedan was believed to be a replacement for the Skoda Rapid. However, the Czech automaker revealed that the Skoda rapid will continue alongside the new Slavia. As you may have assumed this does create a small competition between the siblings. Today we are going to compare the Skoda rapid vs Slavia to find out what each one holds for the Indian consumer.
Skoda Slavia vs Rapid: Dimension

The Skoda Slavia is a large car. During the launch event, Skoda revealed that the new Slavia is larger than the first generation Octavia. When compared to the Rapid the 4,541mm long body makes the Slavia 128 mm longer and 53 mm wider with a width of 1,752mm. The Slavia is 21mm taller and has a 99mm longer wheelbase when compared to the rapid.
Skoda Slavia vs Rapid: Design and Styling
Skoda Slavia gets the original Skoda DNA in its design and styling. The crystalline design and crisp lines are visible all over the car. The new premium sedan gets the signature butterfly-shaped grille with chrome borders and sharp LED headlamps with L-shaped DRLs.
At the rear, the Slavia comes with c-shaped Split tail lights and a rear diffuser integrated into the rear bumper. The Slavia also gets alloy wheels, chrome window lining, and Skoda branding on the tailgate.
On the other hand, the Skoda rapid is familiar to all of us. The sedan resembles the design styling of the Skoda Octavia. The Rapid gets a sharp led headlamp with integrated DRLs. The rapid gets a butterfly grille and vertical slats. Although there are common design elements, the Slavia is a much more modern-looking vehicle.
Interior and Comfort
Skoda Slavia has premium written all over its cabin, from the new multi-layer dashboard to the ventilated front seats. Some of the highlighted features inside the Slavia are a digital cockpit with a fully digital instrument cluster, 10-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, smartphone pockets, and USB-C charging ports in the rear.
However, the Rapid gets a Dual-tone interior styling. Highlighted features inside the Rapid are An analog-digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system, Climatronic automatic AC, etc.
The Slavia provides more spacious interiors and better features when compared to Rapid.
Engine and transmission
The Skoda Slavia comes with two different motor setups. engine variant one is a 1.5-litre TSI that generates 113hp and 178Nm of torque. This variant gets a 6-speed manual or torque converter gearbox. The second variant is a 1.5-litre TSI engine that can generate 148hp and 250 Nm of torque. However, an optional 7-speed DSG transmission is provided for this variant. The Slavia’s engine comes with an Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) to improve the overall fuel efficiency.
Skoda Rapid on the other hand gets a 1.0-litre petrol engine. This motor can churn out 109 bhp of power and 175 Nm of peak torque. Both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission setups are available as gearbox options.
Conclusion
Slavia outperforms its elder sibling in all areas. Although the Skoda Rapid is an excellent sedan and can Stand tall in its competition with cars like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. The price of the newly launched Slavia is yet to be announced. We are expecting it to be priced around 3-4 lakhs more expensive when compared to the rapid.
