Suzuki has revealed pictures and details of the second-generation S-Cross. The new s-cross comes with a completely new exterior and interior styling. The S-cross will be sold through Maruti Suzuki’s premium retail chain- Nexa.
New S-cross: Exterior styling
The new S-cross looks more like an SUV when compared to the previous model which looks like a crossover. At the front, S-cross gets a new long and sleek headlamp and a hexagonal mesh grille.
The headlamps are connected with a thick chrome strip running horizontally across the front grille. Most of the bottom is taken by the large air intake and a Silver skid plate that adds to the mean crossover look of the car.
The side profile of the car is boxier when compared to its predecessor. The crisp shoulder lines and beefier cladding give the car a wider look. Other features on the side are new 17 in inch alloy wheels and chrome lining below the windows.
At the rear, the new S-cross comes with new wraparound taillamps. A black strip with Suzuki branding connects the taillamps. Other design elements on the rear are a Sculpted tailgate, new spoilers, reflective elements, and a silver skid plate on the matte black bumper.
New S-cross: Interior and Tech
The new S-cross comes with an entirely revised cabin. Suzuki has paid close attention to features and elements in the interior. The automaker has included new features such as a sculpted dashboard, a large nine-inch floating island touchscreen infotainment system. The new infotainment system supports Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity. The upcoming model also carries some elements from the previous model, like the 3 spoke steering wheel, power window buttons, and climate control knob. However, the new model comes with a revised instrument cluster.
In fact, the S-cross comes in Maruti’s premium lineup, so the car comes with the best technical and safety features. Top-spec models of the S-Cross get features such as heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, keyless entry, leather seat upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree parking camera.
Newly added safety features in the upcoming version are traffic-sign recognition, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blindspot monitoring, lane departure prevention, and front and rear parking sensors.
Engine and Transmission
Under the hood, the new Suzuki S-cross comes with a 1.4litre Booster jet gasoline motor. This engine can generate 127hp and 235Nm of torque. As a matter of fact, the same engine is featured in the outgoing models in the international market. This engine will come with a new 48V mild-hybrid system that will enhance the acceleration and fuel efficiency of the vehicle. The S-cross comes with a 6- speed automatic and manual gearbox options. The top-end variants sold in foreign markets get Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system with four selectable modes as standard. The car can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 9.5 seconds. (10.2sec for the four-wheel-drive variants).
Although, the model sold in India will come with a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The gasoline motor can generate 105hp and 138Nm of peak torque.
When will the new S-cross hit the Indian roads?
As of now, the new s-cross will go on sale in a few European countries. However, it is high time for Maruti to update the existing S-cross. New competitors like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos have completely thrown out the current model. So we can expect Maruti Suzuki to announce the New S cross for Indian markets in the near future.
