Tata is planning on launching the all-new HBX for the Indian market. It is aimed at the customers who are interested in buying a cheaper SUV and will be launched below the Nexon. The HBX may probably be launched before this year ends.

Styling and design:

The HBX will stay true to its concept design but changes have been made to the tyres and wheels and bumpers. The HBX will be having design features like a split-headlamp setup and Tata’s humanity line grille which are also seen in the Harrier and Safari. The HBX will have upright proportions, squared out wheel arches and other features to make it look more like an SUV. It is reportedly available in dual-tone colour variants.

Platform:

The HBX will be based on the modular ALFA platform which made its debut in the Tata Altroz.  HBX will only be the second platform that is launched based on the ALFA platform.

Dimensions:

The HBX is to be around 3,840mm in length, 1,822mm in width, 1,635mm in height, and 2,450mm in wheelbase making it larger than the cars it is going to rival against like the Maruti Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100.

Cabin features:

The cabin features are reportedly pretty much as that of the concept version except they are toned down a bit. The basic layout consists of square air-con vents and a free-standing touchscreen.

The HBX will be equipped with the latest steering wheel with a part-digital instrument cluster. The HBX is also expected to have 90-degree opening doors making it easier to get in and out of the car.

Engine and transmissions:

The HBX will be available in only petrol variants. The base model supposedly has a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which is also equipped in Tiago, Tigor, and Altroz. The higher versions are expected to have 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine.

It is also expected to be available in both Manual and Automatic modes of transmission.

Launch date and pricing

More details like the model’s name are expected to be revealed at the product’s launch which is expected to take place this year. The Micro SUV is expected to be priced around INR 5 lakhs.
