Tata Motors will launch the CNG variants of Tiago and Tigor tomorrow. Tatas CNG range will come with factory fitted CNG kit along with the gasoline engine. Tata has not yet released the price and other detailed information of the upcoming cars. However, a completely undisguised Tata Tigor GNG model was spotted in a dealer stockyard indicating that the homegrown automaker has already commenced the shipping of these models to its retail network.
More details about Tiago and Tigor CNG
Both Tiago and Tigor will feature the same CNG kit along with the current petrol-powered powertrain system. This will allow the vehicles to run on both Petrol and CNG. Moreover, the cars will come with a CNG badging to easily differentiate them from the standard units.
The standard units get a 2.0-litre gasoline engine that can produce 85 hp and 113Nm of peak torque. And the transmission setup of the upcoming variant will be the same five-speed manual gearbox seen in the standard units. However, we expect the CNG units to deliver a slightly reduced power output. Furthermore, the CNG Units will deliver better mileage and a greener emission output.
The exterior and interior styling would be the same as the standard units.
The CNG models will get all the comfort and tech features seen in the existing Tiago and Tigor, like an infotainment system with apple car play and Android Auto connectivity. Safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking camera will also stay the same as the existing models.
CNG is a greener fuel when compared to the regular fuel options such as Petrol and diesel. Moreover, this green fuel can produce a greater range at a cheaper price, which makes CNG a desirable option for many Indian consumers. The increasing demand for CNG models due to the rising fuel prices has led many automakers to roll out factory-fitted CNG variants. Automakers like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai already have a couple of vehicles in their CNG lineup and many more automakers are making moves to join this segment.
More information about Tata’s CNG units will be available after its launch tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates on the Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG.
