Tata Motors has stated that the next Punch micro SUV will be unveiled on October 4th, 2021. Dealers have already begun taking reservations for the model, with prices ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 21,000 for a token amount.
The actual pricing of the small SUV will be disclosed next month, although it is expected to cost between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch would become the cheapest Tata SUV in the country if it is introduced in this price bracket. It will also be the smallest Tata SUV, with an Alfa chassis derived from the Altroz hatchback as its foundation.
The Punch, according to the manufacturer, combines “bold SUV design, large and pleasant interiors, flexible and energetic performance” in a small package. The forthcoming micro SUV will use the same Impact 2.0 design language as the brand’s new breed vehicles. Some of its design cues come from Tata’s larger SUVs, such as the Safari and Harrier. The Tata Punch is essentially a commercial version of the HBX concept, which debuted at the 2017 Auto Show.

The finished model adheres to the original concept. Its back part, though, appears to be significantly toned down. The small SUV has a similar glossy black grille as the Nexon upfront. 16-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, substantial wheel arches, black body cladding and blacked-out pillars, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, and roof rails embellish the side profile. At the back, it has a roof-mounted spoiler and attached wraparound LED taillamps.
Specs
According to the newest teaser, the Punch sports a dual-tone interior with colourful accents on the AC vents. It is equipped with Altroz’s digital-analogue instrument cluster and dashboard integrated touchscreen infotainment system. Traction modes, hill descent control, and hill start aid are among the class-leading technologies available on the mini SUV.
The official engine specifications for the forthcoming Tata Punch micro SUV are yet unknown. The 85bhp 1.2L normally aspirated and 1.2L turbo petrol engines are said to be available, with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission.
Tata Punch rivals
The Tata Punch will be placed at the lower end of the SUV segment. It goes against the Mahindra KUV100, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the all-new Citroen C3 which is bound to come in the first quarter of 2022.
