The facelifted version of the new 2022 BMW X4 has been launched in India. Although, BMW is only selling the X4 in the Black Shadow Edition with the M Sport package in India. The petrol variant starts from Rs. 70.50 lakh while the diesel variant is priced at Rs. 72.50 lakh. Let’s see what BMW has in store for us.

2022 BMW X4: Design and Exteriors

Although several features of the 2022 BMW X4 are similar to the X3’s it has other features which are not common to both as well. The X4 has new front and back bumpers and new LED headlights. It also has bigger connected kidney grilles and a more updated set of tail lights. Changes in the design on the outside are very similar in comparison to the X3. 

2022 BMW X4 Black Shadow EditionThe coupe sits on new 20-inch M alloys wheels. Along with the new Black Shadow edition, the model also comes with all-black paint and glossy shades on the front grille and wheels. The Black Shadow editions of both the 2 Series and the X7 are also all-black.

2022 BMW X4: Interiors and features

2022 BMW X4 Black Shadow EditionOn the inside of the X4, it is very luxurious and spacious just like other models of the automaker. The seats have Vernasca leather upholstery with black and red contrast stitching and welcome carpet lights. It also has a plethora of features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital display, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, and ambient lighting. The seats can be reclined back a considerable amount to increase comfort levels.  

Engine

The 2022 BMW X4 Black Shadow Edition is solely available in the M Sport avatar. The engines include a 2.0-litre turbo inline-4 petrol engine that delivers 252 hp and 350 Nm of torque. A 3.0-litre turbo inline-6 diesel engine is also equipped with 265 hp and 620 Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic engine along with an xDrive AWD system. The previously available 190-hp 2.0-litre diesel engine has been axed from the lineup. On the performance front, the X4, the 0-100 kph sprint can be achieved in just 5.8 seconds (diesel) and 6.6 seconds (petrol). 

BMW claims that the petrol version returns 12.81 kmpl. The diesel version is a bit more efficient at 14.23 kmpl

The BMW X4 only has one direct competitor in the market, the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class Coupe. It is priced between Rs.71 lakh and Rs.85.40 lakh. The Porsche Macan is another performance SUV at this price point. The German automaker has taken luxury cars to a whole new level with its new launches.
