Is it no secret that Maruti is working on the facelifts of many of its existing models. Among them, Alto will also see a full model change over in 2022. The all-new Alto has been spotted testing in full disguise on road. The launch is expected to take place around the festive season of Diwali in 2022.
What’s new?
According to reports, the all-new Alto will feature Maruti’s new Heartect platform. This underpins most of the current Maruti models. From the spy shots, we can make that the all-new Alto is bigger in dimension than the current generation. It is longer, wider and taller.
Retaining the original silhouette the all-new Alto will see an evolution in terms of design. The newly designed sweptback headlamps go nicely with the fresh mesh front grille. The side appearance appears to be unchanged, while the back end could be redesigned with new taillights.
Interiors and powertrain
Maruti Suzuki has focused more on the inside, with a new dashboard layout and updated upholstery. The spy shots didn’t reveal much about the interior but we expect the hatch to get a new touchscreen system, semi-digital instrument cluster, keyless entry and power steering.
The all-new Alto is likely to feature two engine options, the new K10C Dualjet petrol engine and the existing 800cc petrol engine. The 1.0-Litre dual jet petrol engine is the same as in Celerio producing 67hp and 90Nm of torque. The other petrol motor makes just 47hp and 70Nm of torque. Both engines will be available with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.
Launch timeline
Like the Celerio this year, the all-new Alto will also hit the market in the festive season of Diwali next year. Given the new updates in the hatch, we can expect a slight increase in price for the Alto. As always the Alto will go against the Renault Kwid and the Datsun Redi-GO.
