The Ziptron powertrain that powers the Nexon EV is also used in the new Tigor EV. The following are some of the highlights from the event.

The improved range, which is expected to be close to 300 km on a single full charge, is arguably the most significant feature of the new model. In the company’s electric vehicle portfolio for India, the Tigor EV will be positioned below the Nexon EV. The company announced the Xpres-T EV just a few days ago, but it will only be sold to fleet operators. The Tata Tigor EV, on the other hand, will be available for private purchase and will be powered by the same Ziptron powertrain as the Nexon EV. However, power is expected to be reduced to around 100 horsepower, with the battery pack remaining at 30.2kWh capacity. For added convenience, the new sedan will be equipped with fast charging capabilities.

Why is it necessary to update?

The Tigor EV all-electric sedan was first introduced to government officials and fleet operators a few years ago, but it was only made available to the general public in 2019. Due to range and performance limitations, however, the Tigor EV saw very limited sales. As a result, the company will introduce the new Tigor EV, which will primarily address the concerns of potential buyers.

Nexon EV and Tigor EV to share powertrain

The new Tata Tigor EV, which will debut in 2021, will share its Ziptron powertrain with the Nexon EV, ensuring that the former will outperform the previous model in terms of range and performance. The power output, on the other hand, may be reduced to around 100 horsepower, while the battery capacity is expected to remain unchanged.

Fast Charging Capability

For added convenience, the new sedan will be equipped with fast charging capabilities. As previously stated, the EV will be equipped with a 30.2kWh battery pack that should provide a range of close to 300 kilometers on a single charge. The battery on the new Tata Tigor EV in 2021 should be able to charge from 0 to 80 percent in just over an hour thanks to fast charging. When it comes to the Ziptron powertrain, Tata Motors claims to be offering an 8-year warranty on the battery and motor. The above said powertrain includes liquid-cooled power electronics to extract the most onboard power possible. Ziptron architecture’s battery pack and motor are both IP67 rated.

Key Features of Tigor EV

According to the teaser video, the new Tigor EV will have 14-inch steel wheels with blue accents and projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The new Tigor EV’s interior will feature a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, as well as a Harman sound system that will delight audiophiles. Automatic climate control, keyless entry with push-button start, and electrically adjustable ORVMs are also included in the Tigor EV.

According to the company, it has sold over 8,500 electric vehicles, with 6,000 of them being Nexon EVs. According to the company, Nexon EV customers have communally driven more than 35 million kms.  This has resulted in CO2 emissions savings of over 35 kilo tons, which is equivalent to planting half a million trees.

Safety Features

Tata Motors also claims that the new 2021 Tigor EV is the country’s safest electric sedan right now. To avoid a mishap, the EV is equipped with an impact-resistant battery pack casing and a solid structure.

Hill ascent and descent control, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and CSC (Cornering Stability Control) are all included in the EV for 2021. In addition, the battery pack and motor are both IP67 rated.

The interiors of the new EV for 2021 have also been revealed, and they look very nice and clean. Blue accents have been added all over the vehicle to give it a pleasant feel while also reminding you that it is an electric vehicle. Inside, there’s automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen, and a Harman sound system with four speakers and four tweeters.
