The World Car Awards (WCA) has announced the top 10 finalists for the World Car of the Year (WCOTY) Award 2022, and the top five finalists in other categories such as World Urban Car, World Electric Vehicle of the Year, World Luxury Car, World Car Design of the Year, and World Performance Car. Moreover, the 102 member jury contains automotive journalists from 33 countries

World Car of the Year (WCOTY)

The eligibility criteria for this segment include:

  •  production volume of at least 10,000 units/year, 
  •  “On-sale” in at least two major automotive markets such as China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, the USA in at least two separate continents. 
  • Must be placed under the luxury-car level in their primary markets. 
  •  within the period January 1, 2021, and March 30, 2022.”

  •  must be sold in at least two major markets such as China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, the US on at least two separate continents within the period January 1, 2021, and March 30, 2022.
  • The maximum length of 4.3 meters and approval for operation on public roads.”

  • “On-sale” in at least two major markets such as China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, the USA on at least two separate continents within the period January 1, 2021, and March 30, 2022.”

World Performance Car

The eligibility criteria for this segment include:  

  • The car must be produced in volumes of at least 2,000 units/year

  •  “on-sale” in at least two major markets such as China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, the USA on at least two separate continents within the period January 1, 2021, and March 30, 2022. 
  • Substantially revised variations of existing models, specifically designed to enhance overall performance characteristics.
