If there’s one thing we envy about our neighbour Thailand, it’s the number of special edition models available there. Toyota recently unveiled a special edition Fortuner in Thailand, featuring a unique body kit, gloss black exterior accents, an upgraded interior, and added safety features. The Commander is the name of this latest model. The Thai market will only sell 1,000 units of the Fortuner Commander.
Toyota Fortuner Commander Highlights
Unlike your regular Fortuner, the Commander comes with a special front and rear bumper decoration kit. The Toyota Fortuner Commander comes with several cosmetic updates along with a retuned suspension set-up. It also has a more aggressive look with a gloss black painted grille, side mirror covers, running boards, and headlights. The vehicle features a black-painted roof, larger 20-inch alloy wheels, and a black-painted tailgate trim panel. The chrome detailing between the tail lamps in the rear is also blacked out.

The special edition SUV is decorated in red and black tones on the inside, giving it a sportier look. The seats are upholstered in leather and feature a red contrasting stitching. Although not a GR Sport, the red accents combined with the black interior give the Fortuner Commander a more sophisticated finish. Aside from the spruced-up cabin, Toyota has incorporated smart safety features for added peace of mind. These include a 360-degree camera system, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring system.
Powertrain
Toyota Fortuner Commander features the same engine and transmission options as the standard model. Under the hood, the Fortuner Commander is only available with a 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine. It delivers 150hp and 400 Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission transmits power to the wheels. While the engine remains stock, the Commander comes with different shock absorbers.
