Toyota Hilux vs Isuzu D-Max V-cross: Toyota ends Isuzu’s Monopoly

Toyota Hilux vs Isuzu D-max V-cross

Toyota finally launched the most awaited lifestyle pickup truck the Toyota Hilux in India. With the entry of Hilux, the pickup truck segment has now expanded beyond Isuzu D-Max V-cross. The Hilux is one of Toyota’s best-selling vehicles with over 20 million units sold in 180 countries. Moreover, the Hilux shares its underpinnings with the Fortuner and Innova Crysta. Bookings for the same have already begun and the prices will be announced before the deliveries commence in March. In this article, we will see how they compare with each other, Hilux vs D-Max V-Cross.

Hilux vs D-Max V-cross: Powertrain

Under the hood, the Hilux comes with a 2.8-litre diesel engine. The same engine is seen in the Fortuner. This engine can generate a power of 204hp and 420Nm of peak torque using a manual transmission and a whopping 500Nm of torque in automatic transmission. Toyota is providing a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox in the Hilux. However, Unlike the Fortuner, the Hilux will be available in a single 4×4 setup

On the other hand, the Isuzu D-Max gets its power from a 1.9-litre diesel engine that generates 150hp and 360Nm of torque. This is 41hp and 60Nm shy in comparison with the Hilux. The transmission setup of the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross is similar to the Hilux. However, the D-Max V-Cross is available in both 4×2 and 4×4 drive configurations. Giving them a significant advantage for the price they come for.

Styling and Dimensions

The new Toyota Hilux gets a more refined and sophisticated look when compared to the vehicles from Isuzu. The large front grille and sleek headlamps surely stand out against the chrome grille and large boxy headlamps of the Isuzu.

However, Isuzu’s front profile gives away an aggressive and agile vibe. Also, all three vehicles get stylish 18-inch alloy wheels. Moreover, Toyota Hilux is the Longer vehicle here, it is 30mm Longer than the Isuzu D-Max. Furthermore, The V-Cross is 5mm wider and 25mm taller than the Hilux. Pricing

We are expecting Toyota to announce the pricing of the Hilux soon. Although we believe that since it comes as an SKD unit ( semi-knocked down) to India Toyota can price the Hilux competitively in the Indian market. Moreover, the Isuzu D-Max V-cross comes at a base price of ₹22.07 lakhs and goes up to ₹25.60 lakhs (EX-showroom).
