The year 2022 brings many new exciting vehicles to the Indian market. Both homegrown automakers like Mahindra and foreign manufacturers such as Hyundai, Skoda and Kia, etc. are excited to bring new vehicles to their lineup. We will see new vehicles in segments like Pick up trucks, MPVs, SUVs, and Electric hatchbacks. Here is a list of upcoming cars in India in the coming year.
Toyota Hilux is an upcoming car that is a lifestyle pickup truck from the Japanese automaker. We are expecting the launch in January 2022. Toyotas Hilux will rival Izusu D-max and will be priced somewhere between ₹20 lakhs to ₹30 lakhs. Toyota India is yet to open the bookings for the Hilux.
The Carens is the Korean automaker’s new 3-row MPV. This car is based on the same platform as Kia Seltos and will rival the likes of Maruti XL6 and Hyundai Alcazar. Kia launched the Carens last month. However, we are still waiting for the official announcement on the pricing and deliveries of the MPV.
Skoda Slavia is the Czech automaker’s replacement for the Rapid in the premium sedan segment. The new Sedan was designed and styled keeping Indian users and families in mind. The Slavia will rival the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, etc. The Slavia comes at a price of ₹10.59 lakhs and goes up to ₹17.59 lakhs (Ex-showroom).
Skoda is all set to launch the Kodiaq facelift in the Indian market. The mid-size SUV will hit the market sometime in January 2022. The facelift will feature minor design tweaks and a new 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine. Moreover, the car will also get a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. The Kodiaq will range from ₹33.5 Lakhs to ₹36.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Citroen C3 is expected to be launched in March 2022. The C3 come in the size of an SUV and costs just as much as a hatchback. Also, the car packs all modern tech and comfort features. The new Citroen C3 will be priced from ₹5.3 lakhs and upwards.
The Toyota Rumion is another rebadged model from the Toyota- Suzuki partnership. This MPV is a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga which comes with slight aesthetic changes and a different badge. The Rumion gets a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that can generate 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. A five-speed manual unit and a four-speed torque converter unit are provided as Transmission options. Moreover, the Rumion is expected to be launched in March 2022 and will be priced closely to the Maruti Ertiga.
The Toyota Belta is another rebadged vehicle from Toyota – Suzuki partnership. The car will feature minor design changes from the Ciaz but will be powered by Maruti Suzuki’s 1.5-litre gasoline engine. we are expecting the launch of Belta in March 2022.
Mahindra E-KUV 100
Mahindra eKUV100 is perhaps the cheapest electric car in the country. Although its official launch date has yet to be announced, we are expecting a launch in March 2022. The model is slated for release in early 2022. Its drivetrain system will include a 15.9 kWh battery which transmits power to an electric motor producing 54.4 hp and 120 Nm of peak torque. More information regarding the price of the upcoming cars is yet to be released.
Hyundai Creta facelift
The Hyundai Creta facelift made its global debut last month. The mid-size SUV has already hit the Indonesian market, The Hyundai Creta facelift comes with major design styling changes. Also, Hyundai is planning the release of the new Creta and other upcoming cars in the first half of 2022.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
The Baleno is one of the best-selling premium hatchbacks in the country. The more stylish and updated facelift of the Baleno will surely help it make its way back to the top of the sales chart. The upcoming Baleno facelift will feature major design changes and will come with all the modern tech and features. Furthermore, we expect Maruti to launch the new Baleno in March 2022. The hatchback will rival the Hyundai i-20 and Tata Altroz.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
The Vitara Brezza facelift is ready for launch in March 2022. The midsize SUV gets a more bold and wider exterior styling and comes with modern and advanced tech features. The Brezza will rival the likes of Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue, etc. Moreover, prices for the SUV will start from ₹8 lakhs and go up to ₹11 lakhs.
