According to sources Maruti Suzuki is working on launching three new SUVs in the Indian market. A next-gen Vitara Brezza is in development and will be launched later this year and shall be followed by the launch of a 5-door Jimny and a new midsize SUV. Here are more details on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki SUVs.

5-Door Maruti Jimny:

Maruti has been working on a long-wheelbase model of the Jimny off-roader for a considerable amount of time. It is set to launch in the Indian market this year-end or early 2022. The Jimny has become well known in the Indian market even before its launch. It is reportedly having a longer wheelbase of 300mm and a length raise of 300mm making it more suitable for Urban cruising as compared to its off-road counterpart. 

The Jimny is reportedly packing a turbocharged engine with a mild-hybrid system. The Indian version is expected to have a 1.5L NA(Naturally Aspirated) turbo petrol engine which is also used in the 3-door version of the Jimny. AWD is expected to be a standard along with Automatic or Manual modes of transmission.

Next gen Viterra Brezza:

After the huge success of the first generation of the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki is working on the second generation of its popular car which it reportedly plans on launching towards the end of this year.

The Nextgen Viterra Brezza is developed on an advanced version HEARTECT platform. HEARTECT is the same platform on which the Ertiga is developed. The new Brezza will be launched with the same 1.5L KIB petrol engine as before with a mild hybrid system. Other features incle a sunroof, a larger touch screen on the infotainment system, more modern connectivity features. As with the current model, the next-gen will also compete with the same set of rivals like the KIA Sonet, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, etc.

Maruti-Toyota Mid-Sized SUV:

Maruti and Toyota have come together in a joint venture to develop a Mid-sized SUV suitable for the Indian market. The Mid-Size SUV market is one of the most demanding and popular segments in the Indian market. The SUV is reportedly based on the new DNGA platform which is developed by Toyota. Toyota Raize and Daihatsu Rocky are based on the DNGA platform. This new model will be produced at Toyota’s production plant. It shall compete against models like Hyundai Creta and KIA Seltos.
