There are some upcoming midsize Sedans lined up for India and will be launched within a year from now. These upcoming sedans will rival the currently best selling premium new-generation Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

  1. Toyota Belta

We have seen some Maruti cars under the Toyota badge for quite some time now. Now Toyota has decided to add another car to the list and this time it’s called the Toyota Belta. Toyota will introduce the rebadged version of the Ciaz sedan in the upcoming months. This will replace the recently phased out from the market, Toyota Yaris.
The car is going to be very similar to Ciaz with minor changes from Toyota. This includes a redesigned chrome front grille with Toyota Badge on it and a redesigned alloys wheels. We don’t expect any changes in the interiors and features of the car. Talking about the engine, it will be equipped with the same 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol motor seen in the Ciaz. The motor churns out 104bhp of power and 138nm of torque. Belta gets the same transmission options, 5-speed manual transmission and 4-speed automatic transmission.

  2. Skoda ANB

The new mid-size sedan from Skoda has been caught testing and it is codenamed the ANB internally. This goes against the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the market. The ANB is likely to be placed above the Rapid in its lineup with a price range between Rs.11L to 15L ex-showroom.The ANB will be based on Volkswagen’s localised MQB AO IN platform which underpins the Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Reports claim that the new sedan will feature the brands new Skoda grille, sharp-cut LED headlamps and LED taillamps and an all-new alloy wheel.  Dimension wise the ANB will be 4,480mm in length, which makes it longer than the current Rapid. This gives it extra space inside the cabin and boot space. It will also receive high-end features compared to the Rapid. It comes with two engine options both being petrol, The 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI engines. The 1.0L TSI will make 113bhp and 175nm of torque the 1.5L TSI will make 147bhp and 250nm of torque. The smaller engine gets a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The bigger engine gets a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission option.

  3. Volkswagen Virtus

The next on the list of upcoming sedans is the German Automaker’s, Volkswagen Virtus. It will be based on the brands MQB AO IN platform. The brand has decided to replace the Vento sedan with the Virtus launch. The car which has been caught testing is expected to be launched by the end of this year or the first quarter of 2022.
Most of the design, engine specs and features will be shared with the Skoda ANB. Volkswagen will give a tough of their design language on the outside for the Virtus. The engine options will be the same 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI offered in the sister car Skoda ANB.
Feature-wise the car will feature wireless charging, a large infotainment system, automatic AC, Ventilated seats, and it is likely to get a panoramic sunroof. A digital instrument cluster with a premium audio system with 6 speakers is expected. We can expect other features like automatic headlamps, automatic wipers, climate control, multiple airbags, etc.
