Volkswagen India launched the new 2021 Tiguan facelift today. The 5 seater SUV is the second major launch in 2021 by the German automaker in the Indian market. there was a delay in the Inda launch due to the ongoing pandemic and semiconductor chip crisis the automotive sector is facing.

The facelifted Tiguan is 4509mm long, 1839mm wide, and 1665mm tall. The 5-seater SUV has a wheelbase of 2679mm.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan has was launched in the international markets earlier this year. The 2021 Tiguan comes with multiple exterior updates to make the SUV even more alluring. At the front, the new Tiguan gets new sleek and edgy headlamps with DRLs with new LED Matrix technology. The front grille has been made slimmer and now comes with a lot of chrome accents to create a premium feel. The bumper comes with a newly designed air vent with C-shaped trim on the edges. 

18-inch alloy wheels dominate the side profile of the SUV. The matte black claddings give the SUV a rugged look. However, the body lines and the windows are similar to the previous generation model. Like the old model, the new generation Tiguan also comes with a chrome lining running along with the wheelbase of the car.

The Tiguan is available in 7 different colour variants– Nightshade Blue, Dolphin Gray, Reflex Silver, Kings Red, Oryx White, Pure White, Deep Black.

At the rear, Tiguan gets new LED taillights and Tiguan lettering on the tailgate. Also, a chrome lining with red reflective in between runs through the rear profile of the car.

The new generation Tiguan comes with a bunch of features. At the center of the dashboard is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control. The SUV comes with a massive panoramic sunroof. Plus, the Tiguan gets VW’s virtual cockpit, 30 shades of ambient lighting, illuminated door sills and Vienna leather seats.

Furthermore, Volkswagen has equipped a touchscreen AC vent adjuster for precise control over air conditioning and a handsfree gesture-controlled feature to open the trunk.

Features

The new Tiguan is equipped with a plethora of features. It gets cruise control, flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, illuminated gear knob, 3-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, auto-dimming IRVMs, an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry, cornering lights, push start/stop button and more.

Safety features include a driver alert system, six airbags, ABS with EBD, anti-slip regulation, responsive Electronic Differential Lock, Hill descent, Hill-start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, and a reversing camera with active guidelines and camera lens adjustment, engine drag torque control, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and etc.

Powertrain

The new generation Tiguan comes in one petrol-only model in India. The SUV gets a 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with a direct injection system. This motor can generate 187 hp of power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Volkswagen provides a 7-speed DSG gearbox in the new Tiguan. Moreover, the car will get Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system as well. 

Pricing

The new Volkswagen Tiguan facelift is available in one just variant. This variant comes fully- loaded with all the best in class features. It is available in 7 different colors: Nightshade Blue, Pure White, Oryx White, Deep Black, Dolphin Grey, reflex Silver and Kind Red.

The introductory price for the Tiguan is Rs. 31.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Tiguan will rival the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross and Jeep Compass
