The upcoming sedan will come as a replacement for the Volkswagen Vento. The company plans to end production of both Vento and Polo in India soon.

This same platform was earlier used to produce vehicles including Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Taigun.

The Volkswagen Virtus gets 2 different turbocharged petrol engines. The first 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI motor can generate 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque. The more powerful variant GT Line will feature a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI engine that develops 148 hp and 250 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox is provided as standard across all variants. Furthermore, the former engine will get a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission as optional while the latter will get an optional 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.
