The Volvo XC40 Recharge, their first electric vehicle in India was supposed to launch last year. Even though Volvo had commenced pre-bookings for the car, the launch was postponed due to the semiconductor shortage. Now that the car has been listed on their official website, the launch is imminent.

The XC40 Recharge is priced at Rs. 75 lakh which is almost double compared to its ICE counterpart. Sold as a single variant, the petrol-powered XC40 T4 is priced at Rs. 43.25 lakh. Even though 75 lakhs sound expensive, it happens to be the cheapest luxury electric SUV in India. The closest competitor is the Mercedes-Benz EQC which starts from Rs. 99.5 lakh.
Volvo XC40 Recharge battery specs
Powering the XC40 Recharge is a 78 kWh battery and a dual electric motor setup. It can produce 408 hp and 660 Nm of peak torque. The anticipated range is around 418 km, which seems sufficient for multiple activities. Their 150 kW DC fast charging technology can go from 0-80 % charge in 40 minutes. The sprint time from 0-100 kmph is 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 180 kmph.

Interior and Features
The cabin is identical to the regular XC40 but Volvo has decided to go leather free for the XC40. In fact, all their EVs from now on will be completely leather-free. It has features such as a 12-inch instrument cluster, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, powered front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger and more.
